Well, I've hit another birthday since I've been here... it's hard to believe that I'm nineteen now!

[He smiles a little, though it's a little strained. Not as strained as it would have been even the week before, however.]

It's been hard lately, hasn't it? Does anyone want to spend time doing something fun? It doesn't even have to be about my birthday--if I can help anyone in any way, if I can make someone else feel better, that's the best present of all. Please, let me know! I'll meet you outside the Ground Building, and we can figure things out from there!

[If anyone takes Jeb up on his offer, he'll be doing as he said and standing outside the Ground Building waiting for them. The Silver who's his roommate may or may not be accompanying him.]

Still can't believe you're older than me. [It's not so much the height, because Captain Levi is a certified midget too, but the goddamn babyface that has him constantly forgetting Jeb isn't around the same age as his classmates.]

Happy birthday, though. [There's some warmth behind the dryness of his words. If you squint.]

I can't believe it, either... especially since I was around your age when I first came here! [Which just makes things a lot weirder to think about. Anyway.]

But thank you, Jean! [He catches the warmth, surprisingly.] Are you doing anything right now?

[He looks over to Silver.]

Well, you don't need to... [A small 'hm.'] But I know that you probably want to, so I won't argue!

Of course I do. [smile] Why wouldn't I?

Do you have anything planned for a cake yet? I mean, it's fine if you just want to get one from the bakery, but I wouldn't mind making one for you if you wanted.

[Jeb can't help but laugh sheepishly at that question.]

I don't know. I guess it was silly of me to ask, wasn't it?

It's no trouble at all! I love cooking things for other people.

[Maybe a little bit TOO much, but hey, it's not like anyone has ever complained about it.]

Right now? Not busy at all. Just taking a break from reading. [As interesting as it might be, he can only keep his head bent over a book for so long.]

...well, do you want to go do something? [He's not sure how long Jean wants to take a break from reading for, so it doesn't hurt to ask!]

Hm... maybe chocolate? Oh! Chocolate with strawberry, if that's possible.

[Chocolate's a favorite of his, but... well, Tori loves strawberry. He has fond memories of eating a bunch of strawberry-related baked goods with her while they were growing up. It would make him feel better, perhaps.]

Chocolate with strawberry... okay, I can do that! I'm sure I can find some good recipes for a cake like that.

[He's more used to chocolate and cherry or chocolate and raspberry, but since chocolate-dipped strawberries are delicious, surely a chocolate and strawberry cake would be good too.]

[It's a little grating how Jeb seems to take him seriously all the damn time, instead of joking back like a normal person, but Jean won't say a word. Consider it his birthday gift. (What Jean doesn't consider is that his sense of humor is as shitty and dry as an overdone turkey.)]

I don't really know. Just anything, I guess! I'd suggest drawing together, but... [Jean's a little more secretive about his art than Jeb is.]

[Emil just shakes his head, smiling. While it was nice to hear people thank him for things like this, that wasn't his motivation behind offering to do them. He honestly just wants his friends to be happy.]

Don't mention it. We're friends, right? That's what friends do for each other.

Well, it's not exactly my idea of a party... [He sighs heavily, as if being made to give in.] But sure, why the hell not?
