Good afternoon, everyone! I can't believe I almost forgot this, but today's my birthday. It'll be the first birthday in Luceti that I've celebrated at my actual age! The last time it passed, the Malnosso had made me ten...

Anyway, I know a lot of things have been hard here. There have been some rough times for me, but there have been some really good ones, too. I feel like I've grown quite a bit since arriving here! I'm even a little taller. [Two inches is something to brag about when you were 5'1" upon your arrival, okay?] But where I feel I've grown the most is as a person, and I do think I have Luceti to thank for that. A-At least to an extent!

Especially to the people I've befriended, even the ones who've gone home. Thank you, everyone. [He's eighteen now--an adult. For all his personal growth, it feels strange. He still feels far from being an adult. But it's okay. He'll get there, he knows it. He's already come so far...]

[A little later, Jeb will be doing his usual thing around town. Going to the bakery to get sweets, stocking up on food for him and Silver, stopping by the flower shop, checking the general item store for anything neat...

No, it really isn't. I miss everyone back home, but I wouldn't want to leave Luceti yet either.

Well, that's part of the reason! But... I feel there are still things I need to do here, too.

[It's a big change from how he felt back in October, when he was miserable and questioning everything he had ever known, when he just wanted to go home and make sure Tori and Michiru were all right. He still hopes they're okay, but it's easier to believe they are now. It's easier to hold that hope in his hands and not have it slip through his fingers.]

Yeah, I know that feeling too. What do you feel like you need to do? For me... I need to become stronger. I need to become stronger here so that I know I can do it when I go back to my world too.

Well... to put it simply, there are still people I want to help here. Until I'm no longer needed, or until I feel there's nothing else I can do, I don't want to go home.

We really think a lot alike. I feel the same way about that, too. I have things I need to do in my world, but I don't want to go home until I've done everything that I can here.

I'm glad you can understand, then. I just... care about too many people to want to leave.

No... I just can't get through to him. I know he doesn't want to be alone, but he can't let go of the things that have hurt him.

Sometimes... I don't think you can get through to people. Sometimes they have to learn things the hard way. I used to be like that myself.

I.. I guess that's true. But things have been so hard for them already.

Sometimes people have to hit the bottom before they can start climbing back up. At least, that's what I read in a book once.

I don't remember which book it came from... I just remembered that line because I it made a lot of sense to me. I mean, when you're at the bottom of a hole, the only way you can go is back up, right?

It does make sense! But I think there are some holes that are harder to get out of than others. Holes can be made differently...

I guess that's true. Some holes are a lot deeper than others, or maybe the walls are really smooth so there's nothing to grab onto.

I think... he thinks that if he grabs onto a hand reaching out to help him out of the hole, they'll let go purposefully.

Yeah. I think feeling bad sometimes is part of what makes us human.
