Out of curiosity, what kind of chocolate does everyone like? Personally, there's a lot of kinds I enjoy! And you can use chocolate as a topping for a lot of things, too... how many of you have had chocolate-covered strawberries? Those are wonderful!

[He can feel the fluttering of his heart as he writes the message to the other boy.]

Would you like some company today, Mithos? I'm not doing anything and I really want to see you. I can bring some art supplies over, and maybe make something little for us to eat! So, are you okay with it?

...I miss you too, when you're gone. [with his un-entwined hand, he'll lightly stroke Jeb's arm where it crosses his body.]

[Jeb makes a content sound, smiling wider.] I'm okay with being here now. Luceti, I mean. Because... because it means I can be with you.

[he can feel his heart rising, but he has to make sure...] Would you rather be here than in your own world?

[and now his heart holds its breath, along with the rest of him. He needs to hear the words.]

[It's a hard question to answer. There's so much in his own world that he misses. But something pulls him to answer the way he does, something he can't quite explain--]

...yes, because you can't come back with me.

[He exhales and lets his heart rise all the way to the top of his rib cage. Jeb doesn't want to leave him behind. There's a dark scratching at the back of his mind, reminding him that what Jeb wants has no influence over the whims of this world, but he ignores it.]

...I never want to leave. I want to stay where I can be with my sister, and you. [he squeezes Jeb's hand]

Mmm... [Smiling wider, he squeezes back and cuddles up closer.]

I hope you don't mind me asking, but where is she right now?

[He starts to smile, but then it falls. He looks down.]

...I'm not sure. [words he does. not. like. to admit. He hates not knowing where Martel is at all times...] She went out a little while ago.

[Oh dear. Jeb should not have asked. He squeezes Mithos' hand again.]

I'm sure she'll be okay... [He does his best to be reassuring. But... it's only normal for a brother to be concerned for his sister, right?] I'm sorry.

...It's alright; you didn't do anything wrong. [trying to sound warm, but it's obvious he's distracted.]

... [He sighs a little, just holding Mithos tighter and doing what he can to be comforting.]

[He leans a little more into the boy's embrace, quiet.]

... [He's not entirely sure what makes him do it, but it's probably because he hates to see Mithos like this. Either way, he moves upward so he press his lips against Mithos' forehead softly.]

[His cheeks feel warm again. There was so much...tenderness in that simple gesture. Silent reassurance to permeate his skin.] Jeb?

[He pulls his lips away from Mithos' forehead, but only by a couple inches.]

Yes? [Did he do something wrong...?]

[Nothing wrong. Absolutely nothing.]

...Thank you for coming over. [Something he can never say enough. He lifts one hand to stroke Jeb's hair.]

Mmm... [He smiles, calmly exhaling through his nose.] You're welcome. Is there anything specific that you'd like me to make us?

[Keeps running his fingers through Jeb's hair, now smiling gently] I don't know... What were you thinking of making?

Well, I didn't have any real ideas, so... [He laughs sheepishly.] Is there anything you really like, Mithos?

[Food preferences tend to become muted after 4000 years...especially after spending most of that time not eating. But...] Something...sweet?

[...so he still has a somewhat...childish sense of taste. SHUSH.]

Something sweet... [Well, he had mentioned chocolate covered strawberries earlier...]

Do you have any fruit or chocolate in the house?

[...good question. Martel is the one who keeps the cabinets stocked with food.]

You can check in the kitchen. [...but that requires you getting up. Which he suppose you'll have to do eventually anyway...]

I'll do that really quick, okay? [...but he doesn't want to move.]

...I'll still be here, when you get back. [drops his fingers from Jeb's hair, but squeezes his hand]

...okay. [He gives Mithos one last soft smile and squeezes his hand in return before getting up and going to the kitchen.]
